High Falls Cooking Competition

August 11-13, 2023

It's a "back to school" camping. It's August in Georgia - It's hot, it's humid - and a thunderstorm was intermittent - but it was fun - we completed a 5-mile hike - we cooked and competed under the rain through the night. Troop 66 joined us on this adventure and they brough top chefs with over hundred years of experience. Of course, we lost to them, but we still had a great time!  We'll practice and we'll call for a rematch.

It was incredible to see how scouts improvised and fried their rice on a tiny griddle under the rain.  Scouts had too much fun and laughed so hard.

One of the highlights is . . .  we ran into our previous scoutmaster, Mr. Irwin, who happened to be camping at the same place on that weekend. That would be the second time, this year. A few months back scouts ran into him while doing a backpacking trip.  Scouts thinks he loves us so much that he keeps shadowing us. We may ask him to come back and serve for the second time :)
